What a weekend.

The State of Utah works on a four-ten schedule, so I work from 7 AM to 6 PM Monday through Thursday. Having a three day weekend really is much better for me; Friday is my designated errand day, Saturday is fun day and Sunday is for cleaning house and making food for the upcoming week. I thrive off routine, but sometimes I get distracted and spend the weekend doing things like drinking malt liquor with Candice. I am grateful for these days.

We grocery shopped, re-watched Dexter, cooked lots of yummy food (pumpkin pecan cinnamon rolls, seitan roast, herbed scalloped potatoes), attended a housewarming party for my good friend Amanda and drank lots of wine and malt liquor. I even managed to get a day of shopping in for myself, something I haven't done in awhile.

Such a busy few days, I'm pooped.

YoYos!

My adorable friend Brittney and I have a common love of DIY projects and she shared the idea for fabric flowers called yoyos with me. Last night I looked up a really great YouTube video, poured some wine, put season 3 of 30 Rock on Netflix and got to work on my very first sewing project ever using some fabric samples from Esther:

I can't sew a straight line to save my life, especially after a couple glasses of wine, but with these you don't need to so they are perfect! I'm going to put them on tshirts, cardigans, shoes, pillows, all sorts of things.

Back from hiatus.

Hello hello! My life got crazy for awhile and I had to take a break to revaluate and regroup. A lot has happened since July but I'm happy with where I'm at and where I'm going. I'm slowly working on getting back into internetting and blogging again is the first step.

Since summer I:
  • Somehow convinced myself to cut all of my hair off. I have been regretting this decision for awhile now.

  • Started working as a legal secretary for the State of Utah in the unemployment and public assistance appeals office and was just offered an official three year employment contract! I absolutely love my job and it's six blocks from my house. I'm constantly learning new things and this position is going to open a lot of doors within the State which will hopefully someday lead to me working at the Capitol or even being an Administrative Law Judge.

  • Moved! I finally gave up my apartment when they raised my rent again. I moved into an even better place with my friend Esther and we are now living happily ever after in the beautiful Bell Wines.

  • Am in the process of selling my car. Financial freedom, here I come.

  • Started working out. That's right, I started RUNNING. FOR FUN. Esther has an awesome treadmill and I decided to take advantage of access to free fitness. I now run/jog/speed walk between 2 and 4 miles every other day and my lower half has NEVER looked so good.
Those are the major new things. I've also made several personal changes and all around am a much happier person than I have been in awhile. Stay tuned!
