Dogs, drinks & excellent weather.

Friday after work I went to Melissa's to celebrate Jenny's 28th birthday with the two of them and Heidi. We drank wine until 5 A.M. and it was fabulous.

The rest of the weekend has been a real downer. The weather is amazing but I couldn't get anyone to do anything for the life of me! A weekend to myself would be nice if I didn't live in solitude Monday through Friday.

Tomorrow is my little brother's 19th birthday so I came to my parents' to help bake him a cake and prepare a celebration feast of his choice; shredded pork tacos. This used to be our favorite meal my mom would make, and every year on our birthdays we would both request it. I may be perfectly content in my vegan world, but the smell of those tacos still makes my belly rumble.

My tax return was mailed on Friday! I can't wait to get it. After I get my car registration squared away I'm praying I have enough to take a vacation. Fingers and toes crossed.

Babble babble.

Before I begin let me just say how annoyed I am with the layout of my posts now. DOES ANYONE ELSE HATE THIS AS MUCH AS I DO?!

Sunday dinner at Melissa's; chick'n fajita edition

Ronald's vegan doughnuts from Vegas!

Sunday I spent the day at my parents' house doing laundry and dropped by Melissa's on my way home. Jenny also came over and we made dinner and demolished a few bottles of wine. We discussed past lovers, memories of summer 08 and justified our preference of sleeping pills. We also made plans to retire to Mexico when we're old women so we can lay by the pool in floral one pieces and drink Mai Tais for the rest of our days. This is 100% okay with me.

My laptop hasn't been able to connect to the internet for a few days which has led to increased reading. I'm tearing through books faster than a bulimic at a buffet on a binge. Say that five times fast.

Here is a visual of my day:

Breakfast/lunch; rice & orzo pilaf with grilled chik' strips and green beans

Coffee shop for two hours before work.

Relaxation at midnight after work.

Jenny reccommended a book called Literacy And Longing in LA which I finished in one morning. I relate to it more than I have ever related to anything before and it has thus become my new favorite.

Don't be fooled by all of this food. I've somehow managed to lose 15 pounds.

If I don't take a vacation soon I'll turn into a hermit.

Birthday!

My birthday was wonderful! After my last post I headed home to change and get ready for the evening then headed to Candice's. She made me a delicious german chocolate cake in the shape of a kitty and bought me Isa and Terry's new cookbook, Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. It's amazing and I can't wait to make everything in it! Aaron came over and gave me a bottle of whiskey and a 12 pack of Pabst, then Ryan and Dan came over and gave me an Eazy E double LP. Shortly after, we walked over to Twilight Lounge and met everyone else. We ended up staying there all night. I drank an insane amount of whiskey and took loads of photobooth pictures. Afterwards everyone went back to my house for awhile and at 3:30 AM I was passed out in bed. The next day I had the worst hangover on the planet and only moved from bed to take a shower and cook up some tofu scramble and hash browns. The night was worth it, though. Thank you everyone :)

More later!

Happy birthday, little Lisa.

Today I am 23. This is what I look like.

At midnight I received a special voicemail of California friends singing "Happy Birthday, Dear Friend Lisa" by Jens Lekkman. It made me so happy I cried. For the first time since working nights I came home to a glorious parking spot right in front of the building where it's FREE. I woke up at 11:00 AM and read The Love Machine for an hour and then was treated to lunch by my mother and her coworkers. I've received tons of texts and messages wishing me a happy birthday and I appreciate them very much.

Tonight, we celebrate.
